These terms apply when you buy or use the Get HMO Licence service. Please read them with ourcancellation and refunds policyand our privacy policy. By paying for the service you agree to these terms.

Who we are

What we do, and what we are not

Get HMO Licence provides document preparation and application-handling. We are not a law firm and do not give legal advice. Licensing decisions are made by local authorities and cannot be guaranteed. We complete and submit your HMO licence application to your local council for £599. The decision to grant a licence is the council’s alone. We cannot and do not guarantee that a licence will be granted.

The service in detail

The council’s own fee is paid directly to the council — we add no markup. The council’s own fee, and the cost of any document we cannot prepare in-house (for example a measured floor plan or a fire risk assessment), are separate from our £599 fee and are not included in it.

Your responsibilities

  • Give us accurate, complete and up-to-date information about the property and the licence holder.
  • Provide the documents your council requires (for example gas safety, EICR, EPC and fire alarm certificates).
  • Sign the application and any declarations yourself. The fit-and-proper-person declarations are yours to make.
  • Pay the council’s own fee directly to the council when it falls due.

Our guarantee

If we make an error that gets your application rejected as incomplete, we fix it free. We can never guarantee a licence. That decision is the council’s.

Price and payment

Our fee is £599, taken securely by Stripe at the point of order. We do not see or store your card details. The council’s fee is paid by you directly to the council; we add no markup.

Cancellation and refunds

You have a legal right to cancel within 14 days of placing your order. How that works once we have started, and when a refund is due, is set out in full in ourcancellation and refunds policy.

Our liability

We take reasonable care in preparing and submitting your application. We are not liable for the council’s decision, for its processing times, for any council fee or penalty, or for losses we could not reasonably have foreseen. Nothing in these terms limits our liability where the law does not allow it to be limited (including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud). If we are liable, our liability is limited to the amount of our fee.

Complaints

If something goes wrong, email patrick@gethmolicence.co.uk and we will respond within five working days and work with you to put it right.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and any dispute is subject to the courts of England and Wales.
